We visited Dauphin Island, a barrier island just outside of Mobile Bay in the Gulf of Mexico, a couple of weeks ago while Steady Eddie was in Mobile for a conference. We drove over on a Wednesday evening and spent an hour or so walking on the beach. Beachcombing is my favorite beach activity, so I was happy to be there for even that long. Here are some of my favorite snapshots from our trip.
The only bad part about this little excursion is that someone stole my cute flip flops which I left up on the boardwalk pier. Who steals shoes at the beach?!?!? I had bought them at Wal-Mart on clearance for $9.88 after reading about them on M.K.’s blog, and I liked them so much I went back to another Wal-Mart to purchase a pink patent leather plastic pair and a black patent pair to add to the original yellow pair. (It was the pink ones–my favorites!–that were stolen!) I hope that the thief needed them worse than I do.
The best part of our Dauphin Island visit was imagining going back in the fall with all the kids. A homeschooling friend of ours rents a house there (right on the beach!) for a month and invites other families to come down and stay. We’re already booked. :-) I can’t wait!
